Winery Description

Geographical Location
This estate is located in an area between HÉRAULT and LANGUEDOC, in the wine-producing region of the village of Pinet. It is made up of clay-limestone plateaus loaded with quartz deposits. These plateaus descend down a light slope toward the THAU basin. The climate is Mediterranean with light rains and elevated temperatures (annual average: 13.5cm). In the spring there is little risk of freezes thanks to its proximity to the basin and the sea. Here the "Marin", the "Tramontane" and the "Mistral" play an important role in the quality of the wine.

History
The Gaujals have been in Pinet since 1744 and on February 16th, 1744, it is here that Antoine Gaujal married Anne Guinart. Our agricultural and viticultural past in this beautiful region of France dates back to the day of this celebration.
In the modern era, Ludovic Gaujal, who founded the cellar in 1909 was, during his time, president of several agricultural societies and winner of the Prime d'Honneur (1925).
It is in his honor that we have given his name to our "flagship" wine, the Picpoul de Pinet AOC, Cuvée Ludovic Gaujal.

The Vineyard
In an exceptional environment within proximity to the sea and the basins, bathed in the sunshine of the south and tempered by the freshness of the Thau basin, 45 hectares of vines sprawl out across the estate.
The importance that we place upon modern technology (fermentation tanks, thermal regulation, filtration, etc…) coupled with the know-how that has been passed down by our vintners over generations allows us to respond to the new quality requirements with a range of southern red and white wines.
This range, typified by its originality and character, is conducive to the motto of the Gaujal estate: ‘quality first’.

The Cellar
This cellar was created in 1994 by Ludovic Gaujal so that he could receive his ever-expanding clientele in pleasant and ideal conditions.

Main Varietals
White Wines: Picpoul, Chardonnay, Roussanne and Sauvignon
Red Wines: Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Merlot

Medals
Picpoul de Pinet AOC, Cuvée Ludovic Gaujal has received a large number of gold medals (1983, 84, 85, 86, 89 and 90) at the General Agricultural Competition of Paris, proving the quality of this estate’s production.
