Winery Description
Geographical situation
The estate is situated in the deep south in the upper Agly valley and enjoys a favorable location, both for the type of grounds there and its sunniness and microclimate.
History
The history of the Domaines Salvat is completely related to the Château de Taichac that was constructed in the 14th century by the Du Vivier family who left it in 1856.
The grandfather, Irènée Salvat, took over the estate and was the first to plant the vines on the hillsides. Today Jean-Philippe Savat and his son Philippe are at the head of the family business.
The vineyard
Facing the Canigou, the estate stretches over 45ha at an altitude of 400 meters and over 25ha on the southern side of the Têt.
