VDP Cotes de Gascogne
Gascogne is a fertile and verdant region nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees. Situated on the Atlantic coast, its vineyard has existed for 1,600 years and extends over 11,700 hectares, mainly in the Gers.
The vines benefit from an oceanic climate tempered to the west by the forests of Landes and to the south by the Pyrenees. Abundant sunshine, regular rainshowers, and cool nights make it possible to produce grapes at optimal ripeness with a rich, aromatic palate that is both complex and seductive.
These wines are also nourished by the richness of the soils that and are very specific to the Gascogne region.
To the east: Terrefort, a clay soil that lies on a bed of limestone rock.
To the west: soil composed of clay and mixed silt.
Dominant varietals:
Reds: Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Négrette, Malbec, Tannat
Whites: Jurançon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle and Gros Manseng
